Overview of our study programs and courses

Courses in General Psychology II

The lecture provides an overview of historical and current theories of emotional psychology. In addition to cognitive approaches to emotion research, evolutionary biological theories are also discussed. Another focus of the lecture is on models of interaction between emotions, motivation, and cognitive processes such as attention, perception, and memory. Fundamental principles of affective information processing are taught on the basis of current empirical findings. In addition, central theories of learning psychology, such as classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and model learning, are covered.

This seminar teaches the basics of motivational psychology: What are motives? How are motives translated into goals and ultimately into actions? The most common theories of motivation are discussed and critically compared. Questions of motivational psychology are explored using classic and current research findings.
